Do you need more width for your knitted pieces? Being limited to the number of needles on your needlebed doesn’t mean you can only knit sweaters that are 36″ around! You could put a seam down the center back to make a wider sweater back piece, but you do have options.

June 3, 2017 at 11:20amFor a wider knit garment, sideways knitting comes to mind. Also, I have made cardigans where each of the two fronts was wider than half of the back (does that make sense?). Works great for someone who carries their weight around their midsection. Folding the garment is admittedly a little weird, but it works out very well in all other respects. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. And machine knitters are among the brightest and most resourceful problem solvers I know!
